The staff is very polite and kind. Also the breakfast is convenient, tasty and good, maybe addition of fresh vegetable should be considered. Also allowance of dog in room is a plus. But here everything good ends. To be honest, I would never rate this hotel with 3*, it is more like 2. Why? Bathroom: only one towel per person provided. No hand towel, no facial towel. No amenities like hand soap, shower cap or body lotion. If you want to wash your hands, you need to use shower gel hanged in the shower. Toilet brush is missing completely, so you can imagine... Room: on the pictures room looks freshly renovated with lot of natural light, reality is opposite. Room is dark (even we were in the top floor), walls and the furniture looked very used. The bed, advertised like NEW COMFY "Sweet bed by Ibis" is a complete disaster for your back. At first, for two persons it is small because it is so soft on the edges so when you lie near the edge, you have a tendency to fall down from bed. The floor and bed legs are not friends, with every movement of you in the bed, the bed is moving too. After three nights here me and my partner have very strong back pain. So, at the end, knowing this before, I would never pay for this hotel since ibis Budget right next to this one is much cheaper and you got the same, talking about the sleeping, you got even better! Yes, ibis Budget does not have so good breakfast, so this is the only difference. I am very disappointed with this experience which leads me to the decision to not use service of ibis Hotel again (I will go for ibis Budget or ibis Styles maybe..).
Nightmare... Halloween came early. Rude staff who kept pushing to up sell breaky etc on arrival, security for passports was put in a laundry bag (had to ask them to write me a receipt) and on departure they had trouble finding. Zero aircon working-suffocating internal room. Told it'd be fixed that day. That night, told couldn't change rooms. By 2nd night, still none and after being told no external rooms I asked if I could be moved to another ibis miraculously a room was available. Got very ill from hotel restaurant, the food tastefully awful & half way through realised poultry was raw. Other French ibis ok, this one should be shut down.
We had a blocked toilet one day and could not use the one in reception because the hotel was being refurbished. We also ran out of shower gel on one evening which was not replaced until the next day after breakfast.
The hotel is very centrally located just north of the cathedral. There is a very handy drop-off point in front of the hotel with space for about 3 cars which is good news in this busy location. The garage is in the basement of the hotel and it was great to be able to bring the luggage straight from there to the lift up to the floor of our room - hence if you park your car in the hotel garage do not bother to bring the luggage via the front entrance! We found the garage rather expensive though - 80 cents / hour. We had a room on the top floor and the only downside was the rather small window; I have the impression the rooms located on the lower floors have larger windows. The only negative experience at the hotel was cigarette smoke entering our room during the middle of the night. The staff at the Reception suggested that somehow the internal ventilation system must have distributed the smoke to our room... Well, there are currently building works at the hotel during day-time so perhaps that could have something to do with it... Otherwise a great hotel - recommended!
Terrible stay..no air-con in the room (over 25 degrees in the room) Many guests complaining Towels full of hairs in my bathroom Good point: breakfast was nice and front desk helpful in giving useful information
Stayed for 1 night last year and made the mistake of staying again, deceided to stay again mainly because of hotel position and the available parking. I forgot how small the rooms are and how hot they get despite the air conditioning. Breakfast was a disaster because all the hotel coach parties seemed to have breakfast at the same time so food ran out and 15 minute wait for the coffee machines !
We stayed here for 3 nights and found the hotel more than adequate. There is a nice proper restaurant downstairs, beds were comfy, pillows are flat and soft so for those that like a bit more support sleep with two pillows as 4 pillows are provided in the room. Breakfast through France IBIS hotels all have the same but the breakfast is quite nice and we found all IBIS hotel breakfasts to be value for money as they did vary between areas of France but none were what we would call expensive ranging from 7 euro to 10 euro. The staff were helpful and very professional. The hotel was clean with all amenities a person would require, the shower is a large walk in style. The hotel is in a good position with a little supermarket across the road and a decent coffee shop around the corner as well as a tobacco shop around the corner as well for those that smoke. I would use this hotel again.
The hotel is a very clean and modern hotel with all the amenities you would expect and a very friendly staff. It more than met all our needs though the hotel was a little isolated in terms of nightlife but was close to a tra stop. Breakfast was a bit busy so coffee machines needed refilling and we had to wait whilst other foods were restocked.
The hotel was clean and had most of what you'd want, but I was disappointed by the absence of a kettle or tea/coffee in the room. Note also that the website is slightly misleading when it mentions parking as a facility, as if you stay in their car park it is at an additional cost.
I found this hotel sadly lacking in everything the Hotels own website professed it to have! As a French resident, I was keen to show off the beauty of Bordeaux to visiting family, and during a very busy weekend "Journées européennes du patrimoine" rooms were difficult to find. But, who could go wrong with an Ibis? The website showed beautiful rooms, with clean crisp decor. What we had was shabby with pealing paint, aircon that barely worked, nail clippings on an un-hoovered floor, and a dreadful smell coming from the bathroom sink! I had a triple room, and found towels for just two, when we phoned to ask for another towel, we were told to come down and collect it. The "welcome" was shall we say, not very welcoming, or indeed helpful (but as i've mentioned before it was a very busy weekend, perhaps the staff were just tired!) The night time bar star were amazingly unhelpful. There was just one other couple in the bar at 10pm, yet our order was left on the bar counter to collect, and conversation of any sort was merely a grunt. On a positive note, the bedding was very comfortable, and we all had a wonderful nights sleep, and the breakfast was generous, even to the point of a box of fruit and brown paper bags at the restaurant exit to take as required. There was a note on the lift apologising for any noise as the rooms were being refurbished...we didnt hear or see any refurbishment. The hotel needs the refurbishment, but sadly even if and when the rooms live up to the websites promise, that won't change the Housekeeping or Front Desk or Bar staff. Would I stay there again... Nope... Never.
The room was clean, had enough electrical outlets and the staff was helpful. We had a great view of the city and it was conveniently located to see everything touristic in Bordeaux. The nearest tram stop is a half block from the hotel and a day pass is very reasonable. For a vacation stop, this is perfect and they do have parking which is a must when you are traveling by car.
Staff especially Camille helped me changing the room. Floor in bathroom slippery when Wet. First aid was given by staff. They arranged for doctor to come. He sent me to the hospital for stitches. I required three.
Room was terrible, very expensive for a lower than budget hotel. Room backed onto a quadrant of windows, curtains had to be closed all the time making a dismal room even darker & dingier. The bed was lovely, large clean & comfortable. The noise from the air con meant very little sleep. Reception staff were just about ok, spoke a little English which is helpful, very very very unresponsive to emails. Resturaunt food was pub grub but ok if this is what you expect & the resturaunt staff are very good. Unfortunately we were in there to eat with a coach load of ear shattering Belgium tourists, who then followed us to the bar making the noise unbearable throughout. Breakfast is continental & quite good. The position of the hotel is just off the edge of the centre of Bordeaux, easy to get to from the airport by bus & easy to get to from the train station Gare St Jean too. I would look nearer to the river for accomodation & book in good time to get a good price if there is such a thing in Bordeaux.
Enjoyed the 3 nights at this hotel. Very comfortable bed, extremely clean bathroom & bedroom. Room size ok, not large but sufficient for our short stay. Staff pleasant & helpful? Very well placed for visiting the city centre. Tram stop just over the road. Convenient mini market also across the road and a large shopping mall 5 minute walk. Many good restaurants in close proximity also. Would recommend this hotel.
Ibis bedroom standard, but not the service. Staff was a little lost, had to go twice to reception to re-codify room card. Towels very old, thin like a paper. Noticed a problem with the shower on first night, which was solved the day after when I communicated the hotel. Brasserie/breakfast staff need to improve communication skills, mainly with customers.
Fantastic hotel in a great location with great prices. Nice brasserie on site and a team stop right opposite the property. Rooms cleaned every day. Bathroom big with a huge shower. Staff very friendly and helpful.
I stayed with a group of friends among two rooms. The room I was given didn't have any problems so I'm only going to review my room. Things at Ibis hotels are very consistent across the board and this hotel is the same. No real frills. I was glad as an Accor Gold to get a welcome drink without having to ask because that's happened and my status hasn't been acknowledged. It shows they've got the proper processes and procedures in order. We couldn't check in early but it was around 9:30 by the time we got to the city, however, they did tell us to check back around 11:00 AM and they'd have a room for us and they offered to store our luggage until we got our rooms. We checked back in after looking around the Meriadeck shopping center and sure enough we were able to get our room keys. The room was basic but very sufficient. The wifi was good and we didn't have any issues connecting or with speed. There were a couple of English channels and we were able to change the audio on some of the channels. The staff at the front desk was always helpful and friend, whether that was checking in or out, getting a map or luggage. We were a short walk into the old city, which made it easy to see things. And I really enjoyed our stay.
A little chaotic with regards to parking at the hotel. Lucky to have got a space! Similarly, breakfast was badly organised, running out of jam, bread and particularly seating !! Check in was fairly good, although, there was only one person at reception at a peak check in time (4 - 6pm)
We have stayed at Ibis hotels many times. This was in a good location with a small quiet room. However, wince it was on a courtyard with a glass ceiling and since the ac did not work. it was around 25C at night even though the real outside temperature was about 15C. This made it difficult to sleep.
We love Bordeaux and the location and prices of this hotel meet our needs. The rooms are on the larger size for the IBIS brand and have to doors between bathroom and lounge/bedroom. Everything works,it's clean and beds are comfortable. Reception is a bit like a railway station. Some may love it. Two things are annoying. The hotel is near a main road and near the depots for emergency services, sirens can be heard pretty much 24/7. My main gripe is the parking charge. The hotel has it's own underground car park . It cost us over €27 for a stay of about 40 hours, half a days room rate and the car slept better. To make matters worse one doesn't receive reward points as an Accor member for this rip off.
