Small hotel. Friendly, efficient staff. I was under the impression that this was a new hotel...opened in May. However, it's possibly re-branded. The room was clean, as was the bathroom. The air conditioning did not work & the window catch was broken (which we fixed). The restaurant has a limited, but reasonable menu...food was nice. Breakfast excellent. Stayed on both legs of the journey & will probably stay again in the future.
When we arrived the staff on reception seemed preoccupied with other things and it took them a while to get us a key despite the fact we had checked-in in advance. I had difficulty getting to sleep the mattresses in the room was like 10cm thin and the bed felt very hard. I wonder if these mattresses are due replacement? The public areas of the hotel have obviously had some recent renovations, there is even area where you can charge UK as well as continental devices. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. When it came to leave there was no one on reception so we just left the key. Overall not the best IBIS or worse i've ever stayed in (might stick one my favorite one in the area in Blois)
Have stayed en route many times to the U.K. Always clean friendly and great value. This time due to selfish guests it was very noisy at night. The hotel tried but the crowd were just inconsiderate of the needs of others.
We have stayed here on a number of occasions but not for a few years, we were not disappointed, the hotel, staff and food excellent. The hotel is also within easy distance to many of the Chateau's. and some lovely small old towns too.
I am disabled and had requested a disabled room. It looks like you had put two handrails in the room for you to call it disabled - clearly it was not a disabled room - the bed was too high and was against the wall meaning either the disabled person could not get out and/or the carer would have to climb over the disabled person! The room was too small (not like Valladolid) - if you were in a wheelchair, which I am not, you could hardly get in the door let alone the bed and would not be able to turn round in the chair. The shower was in the bath - not a wet room - and totally inaccessible for a disabled person. I could not get in our out safely and I am sure you would not have wanted any sort of action had I fallen. There are never enough towels - a lot of disabled people cannot dry themselves. You shampoo/body wash can probably not be used by the disabled person as they do not have the strength in their hands to squeeze - I only have one hand so I cannot squeeze and catch the soap at the same time - but I cannot really squeeze in any event. Why when there are two guests staying in the room would you only provide one spare pillow? Surely there should be two. The area was lovely but I would not stay there again. It is very unusual for me to write a bad review about your hotels as they are usually very good. I think sometimes your disability officer is probably not disabled and really by going on what they think does not always work. I realise you cannot cater for everything but it needs to be 90% and I believe this room I stayed in contravenes many of European disabled equality policies.
Budget Hotel chain so rooms are small but clean and comfy. This hotel is located outside town so no restaurants in walking distance (that we saw!), however it is an easy drive into town. Breakfast bar includes gluten free breads with their normal spread. Bar and basic menu for meals. Easy drive to Chenonceau Chateau from here.
Ibis Amboise is a hotel on the ring road around Amboise, easy to find and with plenty of parking. Amboise is a lovely town to walk and relax in and enjoy the many popular sites, amble round the little streets or walk to the island in the middle of the Loire and look across at the prominent chateau. It is also a very convenient place to stay for visiting the Loire Valley, being situated between Blois and Tours. The hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant. In particular, 'Estelle' was always friendly and very helpful, finding us tourist brochures, giving directions and explaining the menu. Our only criticism is that the menu failed to feature regional dishes and wines, which to us are one of the delights of France.
We stayed overnight en route to the Bordeaux area, enabling us to spend a couple of hours at the Chateau Royal in Amboise the following morning before the crowds arrived, which was absolutely superb. The hotel was functional, friendly, very convenient and great value for money with comfortable facilities, very good wifi and a spacious and secure car park. We especially enjoyed an evening meal and a couple of beers sitting outside which, although the hotel is located by a main road on an industrial estate, was a surprisingly enjoyable experience, with tasty food, a pleasant ambience and excellent service. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel as either a stopover or as a functional base for exploring this lovely part of the Loire.
The Amboise Ibis is very well situated and - as anticipated - the premises were clean, smart and pleasant. The staff were all very friendly and willing to help in any way. There is ample parking and the accommodation is well up to Ibis standards. There is a very varied menu and we enjoyed a light snack soon after we arrived (having checked in quickly and efficiently by the reception staff). Breakfast next morning was excellent with plenty of choice. There were four of us and we were welcomed and dealt with by very friendly staff. Checkout was dealt with quickly and politely.
Good stopping spot for an old Classic Car, felt secure in leaving my cherrished classic car in the Ibis Car park. Felt the menu could have been a little more extensive more in line with my previous experience of Ibis Hotel Menus. Very comfortable stay, helpful staff.
After staying at the IBIS Montlucon it was a welcome relief to come back to the standard we normally expect. A clean, modern hotel in good decorative order providing good quality pizza with a smile, thank you
We have used this hotel before as it's a good base for exploring the Loire valley and its chateaux. This year we had problems with staying in a ground floor room and having a person on the floor above with possible insomnia (and a wooden leg) walking up and down for hours, which precluded my wife's sleep, but after speaking to a kind and extremely efficient concierge, the problem was solved. In the morning the person in charge knew about the problem and it's possible the offending guest moved rooms.
Well situated hotel, easy of access. Ideal overnight stop when motoring. Good accommodation at the price. Nice restaurant with reliable menu and cooking.. We stay here regularly. Amboise a very interesting town.
A good alternative to staying in one of the Tours Ibis which tend to be more expensive. This hotel is situated to the east of Tours and is somewhat isolated but ideal if travelling. It has quite an unusual reception/bar area for an Ibis and is quite trendy. The restaurant is good but check it is open before booking as we have been caught out at other Ibis hotels with no meal options if closed. The rooms are standard Ibis style, clean and comfortable.
A good stop-over with friendly staff. Convenient for Amboise town. Hotel restaurant was good value. Most comfortable bed of the trip. Easy to find with spacious car park. Hotel is not new but its clean.
Located outside Amboise. Stayed at this hotel a few years ago and it has been renovated with a new reception. Staff were brilliant - first room offered had been smoked in but it was swapped for a non smoking room without any problem. There is a nice area around the bar to sit and enjoy the garden but when we were there it coincited with a huge storm so we had to stay inside. The restaurant now based on Pasta and pizza but I had the steak hache - sadly there were no frites - but great tasting anyway. Would return without hesitation. Supermarket for fuel and supplied about 5 mins away.
We stayed here for one night and found it to be very pleasant and value for money. Lovely green outlook, rooms very clean and comfortable and pleasant staff. With a car it was only a few minutes drive into Amboise and we had no trouble parking. Would stay here again.
This Ibis hotel was clean, comfortable and the food was excellent. Very conveniently placed for visiting Loire Valley chateaux. Amboise being a most important one and near several other wellknown chateaux.
Very nice hotel, friendly staff, rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, breakfast is ok for us, some guests may wish more variety (e.g. only one type of cheese available), location ideal for visiting different castles in the Region, many of them are within 30 minutes from the hotel.
The, service, comfort and location of this hotel was ideal for breaking our journey between the far south of France and Calais. The convenience even greater because dogs are allowed, including in the restaurant.
