the service is worst even with my reservation the didnt give me the room you should review the staff and traine them well.i cant recommand this hotel to friend . it really sad hope will get refund asap
The stay gave no real surprises (see ratings below) - it does what it says on the tin. My only surprise was the bill. My reservation clearly noted that the rooms and charges had been processed in euros on my credit card. It appears that visitors are only charged in local currency upon checking out. While there doesn't appear to be any great difference, this should be made clear when the reservation is processed.
The hotel is a short drive from the airport. Good security feature in the elevators, The food was good and the hotel staff were generally courteous. The shuttle arrangement for early morning departures must be improved as the earliest is at 7 am compelling guests to leave by taxis. Room service menus were missing.
Ibis Douala is a hotel with European standards. All the basics are in place but extra's like a gym are missing. Swimming pool is good. Personnel is pleasant and pays attention to what you ask. The quality of the food is good but not very much choice. Rooms are not big but beds (matrasses) are good.
I stayed at Ibis Douala Hotel in June 2015 and I was very pleased with the hotel accommodation, namely the professionalism and friendliness of the attending staff, especially the maid crew and front desk, and overall quality of service. The single room I occupied was spacious and the basic amenities such as a comfortable bed, clean sheets, hot water, air conditioning, clean toilets and towels were up to the standard of similarly rated hotels in America or Europe. The addition of a small refrigerator in the room during my stay was the icing on the cake. I also note the improvement brought about by the newly ushered on-line pre-registration process which made my on-boarding and check-out quite seamless. Some improvement in the breakfast menu choices and continuous access to English speaking TV channels (especially CNN) could have improved the quality of my stay. Airport pick-up for arriving guests also needs better coordination. I never received a reply to my e-mail message requesting to be picked up at Douala airport upon arrival. Finally toilet seats are wobbly and need attention. I changed rooms once and noticed that the commode was not properly attached to the floor in either room. Overall Ibis Douala is the right choice of accommodation for the traveler seeking ease of access to the business district and safety due its strategy location at the heart of one of Douala's most desirable neighborhoods, Bonandjo. I plan to return during my next visit and would recommend it to any safety and comfort conscious business or tourist traveler. Steven G. New York, N.Y.
I spent 3 nights at Ibis Douala in October 2014. I liked everything in general. I was on the 7th floor, which is a non-smoking floor and the room was very pleasant. The bar, restaurant are also great.
I had a quick one night stopover before flying out early the next morning and at 4am even after letting the tap run for over ten minutes had to have a cold shower, not even luke warm but stone cold, very strange compared to the normal Accor level of service.
In Accor Hotel I expected good service and rooms, But in Ibis Douala, I had to wait for things which you expect to be done asap. Airport Shuttle wait - 40 minutes, Check In - 30 Minutes, They checked me in an occupied room first. Cleanliness - not so good. Everything felt slow basically in this hotel.
I wish if IBIS all over break some monotonous way of giving services and try to be more people friendly like any standalone hotel in the big cities. In short more human touch is required. All the best.
Good service; good location; adequate comfort - it would be better if there would be individual A/C controls in the rooms, but otherwise adequate A/C; food not great: quality and cleanliness could be improved; overall good value for money.
