I pass thru Lhr often and for past 10 years have over-nighted at the Ibis. During this time period there have been renovations, upgrades and now updates. The latest room I stayed in had mostly cosmetic changes with multi-colored paint and carpeting schemes. It really does give the room more personality and charm. The storage area has more space for suitcases, but unfortunately, in order to do this, the majority of shelves were removed, incl in places where it did not add to suitcase storage space. There are new light fixtures and TV is larger as well, but again, shelf space above TV was removed and the room could be very messy for more than one person. The desk by window has been replaced as well, mostly cosmetic. Unfortunately the curtain still unnecessarily sweeps by the desk knocking things to the floor. It should be a half-curtain(if wall is to be covered) and desk fixed to the wall. One item I've heard mentioned is the pillows, which are very bulky and firm, not for everyone. The hotel itself still has the advantages it has always had. It is close to the Lhr free bus network allowing customers to avoid the Hoppa £4.50 pp fee. The staff are consistently friendly and the check in system using mobile devices seems to help with checking in customers quickly. It's proximity to Lhr allows for easy access to Heathrow Express/Connection at Central bus station and to the tubes Picadilly line at both Heathrow and Hatton Cross. As always, Le Club Accor members benefit with a free welcome beverage.
