Always welcoming and helpful just great for a few days shopping and a trip into the old town or an hour away from rennes also some of the seaside resorts.IKEA at pace again only an hour away and a trip to the submarine pens at Brest is a must
Hotel has been extended and overall is pleasant. It's OK for an overnight or short stay. However, bar prices are excessive!!!! 2 small ciders cost 7euros. Didn't partake of any food. We found the reception staff to be just about friendly on arrival but on departure they had a typical couldn't care less attitude. If this hotel wasn't convenient for visiting relatives nearby we wouldn't stay again!
Good location in the middle of shopping estate, far enough from centre of the town, hence no outside noise at night. Plenty of parking around. Average hotel. Very small room, no space for two people without bumping on each other, no space to pack luggage. No tea/coffee making facility. Very small shower room - not cleaned properly Happy we stayed only two night, would be a torture to stay any longer.
Convenient location & parking. Room satisfactory. However service at breakfast was variable. On first morning (Friday) the delay with re-stocking of foods & cutlery was frequent & & also cleaning of tables not a practice. The next day (Saturday) we found service much better with staff aware of requirements. Reception staff on general items were satisfactory.
The hotel is basic but the beds are comfortable. I got a disabled access room which I dislike but I guess that's the luck of the draw. The bed would be far too small for two persons, luckily I was alone although paid for a double room. The thing I found unacceptable was the redueness of a memeber of staff. I was in the shower at 6.45am interrupted by the phone where the person on the other end barks "What are you doing?" I replied that "I was taking a shower" she responded that "I hope you shut the door" because the smoke detector went off. All in a rude and acusatory manner. This was all in French so there was no excuse for something being lost in translation. While I understand that steam from showers can sometimes set of smoke alarms, when it happens the guests should be treated with respect and in a polite manner as they don't do it on purpose and the onus is on the hotel to warn the guest that this may happen. I resent being barked at and spoken to rudely. this memeber of staff should be reprimanded and retrained on how to talk to guests. I would have given her my piece of mind directly if I had run into her but checed out soon after and she wasn't the person manning the front desk. I realise it's an ibis and not to expect much, however, this was unacceptable.
I have stayed here several times, as its location/parking space/standard rooms make it useful as a stop-off before taking the ferry. I booked automatically and so did not realise there was no longer a restaurant service. The available snack service is not good - basic microwave convenience items. This lesser service may be why there seemed to be a lack of staff around reception. Convenience alone means I will probably use it again, but be sure to plan for lunch en route.
I recently stayed at the Ibis Saint Malo La Madeleine for four nights and i must say it was very enjoyable. The only thing i did not like was i could not get back into our room they did not service the till about 4-30pm apart from that it was an exhalent stay thank you very much.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room was clean and well equipped. Perfect for a short stay close to St Malo but outside the walls. Parking right outside the room was a massive bonus!
Ideal hotel to stay at the start and end of holiday, location is good for the ferry to Guernsey for us. We had to stay an extra night as the ferry departed a day early due to bad weather coming. That night was very windy and something outside or on the roof was banging all the time we had a very bad first night, however the next night was better. They have installed a lift also which is wonderful !
Stopped for one night at the beginning of our holiday and one night at the end, enabling us to use our caravan for the holiday and tour Brittany. excellent night halt with very pleasant staff very helpful and convenient to both our arrival and departure.
Arrived at hotel had a warm welcome from the staff who where very polite and help fully found the hotel was very clean and layout was very good , found rooms nice and clean and comfortable beds found no faults with the room , found the bar very clean and staff where very hopefully, breakfast was set up nicely with a good selection of foods
It is some years since we stayed here. Failed to read the hotel details properly and overlooked the fact that what onceover was a very pleasant restaurant had been closed. Otherwise a decent Ibis for an overnight before the ferry though not for a longer stay.
La Madelaine is a perfect location for ferry. Excellent low weekend price. A bonus was being next to Buffalo Grill where we had a good meal with good service even though the restaurant was full. Room and decor upgrades are good. Large bed does limit free space in room though.
We stayed here, as we have done several times, whilst waiting for our ferry back to the UK. The staff were helpful as always. The hotel is still benefitting from its refit last year, although I find the colour scheme in the bedrooms a little too dark. An extension has been added, which I cannot comment on since ours was one of the old rooms. On checking in, we were very disappointed to be informed that there was no restaurant service available. On our previous stays, we have always eaten at the hotel and been more than satisfied with the food - good, simple French cuisine. At reception, we were told of various restaurants nearby and we found one to suit our tastes, but we would far rather have eaten at the hotel, having driven over 600 kilometres to get there. We were advised that a new restaurant would be opening shortly and we look forward to sampling its wares on our next visit.
This is a really nice hotel. The staff are very helpful and kind, the rooms are immaculate and the beds very comfortable. When we arrived the manager and the reception staff welcomed us and ensured that we had everything we needed. Our ferry was delayed but the fact that we could stay in our rooms as late as noon meant that we did not need to hang about waiting for the ferry to arrive Highly recommended.
We have stayed at this hotel several times and you get excellent rates if you pay when you book. But if you have prepaid and you get an email to check in online DONOT enter your credit card details. I did and I have been charged a second time. And at the higher rate as well.
We arrived and not permitted to use the Accor voucher and this was not fully explained. The reception staff did not care or seem interested. After a long drive we decided to eat in the hotel and we ordered our meal and when it arrived, we received a hot meal served with a frozen centre and complementary stale bread! Awful food!
Very comfortable - excellent bed - internet access - helpful staff. A night here on our way home is a pleasurable part pf our whole holiday. Breakfast more than necessary so we were well set up for the ferry. We are regulars and will be back next year!
I made my booking eleven weeks before our stay and asked for a reservation in the restaurant. This was a significant reason for our choice of Ibis because on Sunday night Ibis was one of the very few hotels with an open restaurant. Only a few days before the stay Ibis sent me an email to say the restaurant was not open. Since we were in rural france I did not receive this emai in time to make any alternative arrangement. On arrival we were told that the restaurant was shut but they could offer snacks. The snack menu was basic but had to be sufficient under the circumstances. However, service was very slow and when the bill came it was wrong. It was explained that the staff were trainees. I made my disappointment with the situation known to the duty manager explaining clearly the background. He was polite and eventually offered to waive the cost of the meal. An amicable resolution. I feel let down by Ibis who have offered good service in the past. In this instance they have neglected their customers and put thir own needs first. Building a new restaurant (good idea) without putting an adequate interim service in place, not giving sufficient notice of this change, and having insufficiently trained staff to deal with a difficult time in the hotel.
As usual when we stay here the room, bed and en suite were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. I look forward to my next stay. The location is ideal for the hyoer narket with a good range of stores and eateries.
