Having stayed here a few times in the past it was disappointing to find out that on the 2 occasion in 8 days we stayed this time that the restaurant was closed, not what you want after 8 hours plus travelling. Excuse both times was that the chef was sick. I don't believe them. On Sunday 20th Aug we received a text informing us that the restaurant would be closed at 1.00pm. On Monday 28th Aug the same message was received just before 5.00pm. The hotel wasn't busy either evening which is why I don't believe their story. Despite the handy location and the staff's, who are pleasant, attempt at providing us with a snack it is now the last time I will use this hotel
The hotel and room were fine. I had pre-booked an evening meal which was not a good experience. The food was OK when it came but the service was terrible. There were not enough staff - only 3 to cover reception, bar and cooking. We managed to get in early but people who came later were having to wait over a hour to get a table.
Nice location once found hotel. Receptionist very unhelpful about fact that the "ground floor" was 8 steps up but there was a level entrance company used for deliveries. Diner was good and staff very helpful.
Room on the small side but comfortable and clean. Food very good but difficulty with prepaid offer taken up when booking. We were told that we were entitled to the menu of the day. It had little choice and nothing we wanted to eat so chose from main menu but we're allowed only 1 course. We had to pay extra for anything else. Will not book a prepaid meal again.
Booked this hotel on the website and after a 700 km drive booked into the hotel where we were told that the restaurant was closed on Sunday. We were given a leaflet for a town centre restaurant where the hotel had negotiated a 10% discount. This alternative restaurant could not be found and we ended up at a Campanile restaurant. This is the second time this hotel has done this to us and it is not good enough. At the very least the website during booking should advise of the closure and give the customer the opportunity to make alternative arrangements. The receptionist said that an email was sent but not received by me, I asked to see the sent signal but after several minutes it could not be found? Finally and perhaps worst of all I was advised that the Ibis 15 minute service guarantee did not apply in this case. With this behaviour I cannot recommended this establishment.
We have stayed here several times and always find it to be excellent value for money. This visit was no exemption. Being outside of the town may be a disadvantage to some but as we are always passing through on our way to the mountains it suits us perfectly as we always have a good night's sleep. The beds are comfy ,the rooms clean and the restaurant although simple has the usual very good quality food.
We arrive after 9am but as they were expecting us checking in was already done. We are in the restaurant and the food was great. The bed was very comfortable and the whole room spotless clean. We will definitely stay here again
Quick stopover night, standard room, decent dinner in the restaurant and excellent Ibis breakfast (fresh madeleines the highlight). Very comfortable bed and quiet location. Does what it says on the tin.
All the staff were extremely helpful and polite and the restaurant was really good with a good choice of food. It was easy to find and close to the motorway. It was one of the bst Ibis hotels we have stayed at in France.
The hotel Ibis Chalons en Champagne we used in transit from Switzerland to the car ferry at Calais, for this our stay was fine, the one point to make is we didn't find the location of the hotel immediately as it was at the end of day light.
Handy stopover point in a rural location very quiet and relaxing. Had some difficulty locating the entrance from the industrial park, a few more signs would be helpful. Friendly and helpful staff with good food and service in the restaurant. Access to the bedroom area slightly awkward with half a flight of stairs to the 1st floor. The shower fills faster than it drains, could easily have been a flood!
Stayed here several times and always enjoy it. The staff are efficient and knowledgeable. However, someone should teach them how to make a Gin and Tonic as simply adding tonic water to gin is not enough. A slice of lemon and some ice completes a good G&T. The restaurant serves simple but tasty meals.
After pre-paying this hotel for the room including dinner (2 @ 15.40E with free drink), I got an email saying the restaurant was closed on the night I was staying. But when I replied that I would be driving from Calais, and didn't want to drive into town to eat, the manageress emailed saying I could have a meal from the "en-cas" menu (2 @ 13.40E without drink). On arrival, the receptionist tried to get me to eat in town, but when I told him about the manageress' email, he reluctantly agreed to serve us "by exception". He convinced every other guest to go elsewhere, even telling one who saw us eating, that we had brought our own food into the restaurant. We were not offered a free welcome drink despite showing my silver card, and were charged for our 2 coffees on arrival.
Worst stay in an Ibis hotel. Food was poor and served frozen. public toilet facilities dirty doesn't stock English breakfast tea. I will not use this hotel again. Tried to complain but all my attempts have been ignored
The address given in your guide book and on the internet was very vague and other people staying at the hotel said like us they had difficulty finding the hotel like us. But once found with help of very nice French lady everything was very nice.
I was just passing through on my way to Germany and the location suited my plans. The hotel was in good condition, the staff at the front desk was polite, friendly and helpful. Only meal I had there was the breakfast. A good, simple breakfast and plenty of it. Cold meats, fresh bread, cereals, etc... I would definitely stay again.
This hotel thinks it is OK to close the restaurant when they have customers arriving with the excuse of offering a discount at another restaurant! Having just driven 500 miles the last thing I want to do is get back in the car and find somewhere else to eat. Fortunately it seems to be perculiar to this hotel in the chain
Ibis Chalons en Champagne has been our accommodation of choice en route between UK and the Alps for several years. The service is super-efficient. The staff are very friendly. The rooms are very comfortable and well-fitted out with new beds and bathroom fittings. The breakfast service is superb. Altogether it provides great value.
We were advised after booking that the restaurant would be closed but unfortunately we could not find an alternative open in the town and no suggestions were made at the hotel as to where we could go. Whilst the room was good I do not think we will stay here again
The hotel is a little tired but it was clean, the staff were very helpful, the bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was plentiful. For a stopover I couldn't ask for any more and I would stay again.
