This hotel sits beside a builders yard and not far from what looked like a power station and not far from the main highway. There was only one charming girl on reception and she was overrun by guests arriving. The restaurant was closed and yet we had been told that it would be open!
Halfway from Calais to the South, half a mile from Chalons North exit, this is a good choice. Yes, it is just an Ibis Style, but it is welcoming and clean, with good parking. The star is the Restaurant, the food is excellent - Foie gras cuit, followed by quail, good wine list but order any red wine early, as it is served too cold for English tastes. Good breakfast to get you on your way. Will be back.
After an arduous journey we were given a warm welcome at the hotel. The staff are welcoming and very helpful. The hotel has been upgraded to an Ibis Styles and combines style, hospitality and a feeling of being a valued guest. In the bar reception area there is even a real log fire burning which makes for a very cosy and relaxing atmosphere in which to enjoy a drink.
Lovely hotel just off the motorway with pool to chill for a few hours during our long journey with 3 kids and a dog. Excellent breakfast and friendly helpful receptionist. Dinner was quite expensive for all of us, 7 in total (2 rooms) so we went to town which was a great decision as the town it self is lovely with riverside restaurants. Would stay there again.
Great reception. Room very big and clean. We had a family room and THE 2 rooms were big enough. Badroom was super. But best of all was THE bed. Amazing bed, we and THE children slept like a baby. Breakfast was simple but enough.
The hotel is very fresh and comfortable - our stayed was spoilt by the fact that the restaurant (which we were looking forward to) is closed on a Saturday and Sunday. Yet you can book half board on a Saturday night. The tea and coffee facilities were on a shelf at the side of reception not quite as described in the hotel info - no milk one tea bag!
I like the Ibis Styles concept from the Accor group and this Ibis Styles hotel is close-by the major auto routes when traveling thru France. It was a family trip and we particularly enjoyed the family suite. Lovely room. Ideal when traveling with 2 older kids.Friendly personnel. We arrived late and David at front desk really made us feel welcome at check in. A pity the restaurant was already closed because eating out at the Buffalo grill was a disaster. But that didn't matter because when I asked for tea that evening it was even brought for me to the room by another colleague, I really appreciated that as I was tired after a long drive. Good enough breakfast the next morning to get us ready for another long drive.Thank you Ibis.
The decor is good and new. But the restaurant poor, on a Sunday evening it was impossible to get a glass of red wine and the restaurant service was done by the receptionist who microwaved meals. The room was poorly isolated for sound and we were badly disturbed by the lift mechanism up to midnight and again from 06.00
This was a stopover on a return family holiday. The hotel was convenient for the motorway. The rooms were sightly smaller than I expected with twin beds and a sofa bed. Quiet and clean . The restaurant was good but pricey with a comprehensive wine list of higher quality than I needed or expected. Inclusive Buffet Breakfast was more what I needed and expected.
once you've found the correct hotel Ibis as there are 3 different ones and the GPS coordinates are not accurate, it's an absolutely great accommodation. Friendly and approachable staff, nice room, breakfast was great.
we normally stay in ibis budget hotels but as this was a long drive(all of england, then all of france) with an injured knee, we decided to be kind to ourselves and try "style" and the posh ibis en route. this ibis style in chalon-sur-soane was the first of the three and we were really looking forward to a swim, drink and meal on site.....but the pool was covered in dust and leaves, the restaurant was closed on sundays and so we just had very expensive cold beer! the hotel is quickly accessible from the motorway but is on the edge of a zone with builders merchants and supermarkets. it was a wooded plot and had potted plants & flowers so they were making an effort, but the stream close by was very smelly in the heat. room was fine, staff were very cheerful and helpful with directions to restaurants etc but overall i'd say it needs a bit of work to call itself "style".
Hotel was clean with good sized room, although no actual defined bar area. The main problem was that the checkout staff do not understand their own employers loyalty program. Paid on line using accor website and using accor loyalty points only to discover that the staff member would not accept my print off stating that my points had been used as part payment. So i had to pay twice. Not much point inhaving a loyalty program which does not reward loyalty. Was made to feel like a criminal on checkout. Perhaps some in depth staff training required by management.
We stopped here on our way from The Netherlands to Spain, and we found it very comfortable. Excellent service, nice rooms, quite, and very adequate if you travel with children. The only but: we missed more non-sweet food and fresh orange juice in the breakfast buffet. It is not the first time that we stay in this hotel, and it won't be the last.
Great hotel With really Nice service. I'll come back to Ibis Style again next year for few days. Great food With good coffe and fresh bread for breakfast. They have the best bed I ever seen in the hotel!!! Could stay in this bed all day :-)
One of the new Ibis styles type hotel falls between standard ibis and Mercure. This is a refurbished old mercure, new and clean rooms with good facilities and nice public areas . This hotel also had a small pool. Food good but a bit too "nouveau" for our taste. Staff helpful and efficient. Easy access from motorway.
This hotel proved easy to find, being very close to the Autoroute du Soleil, as we went on holiday to the South of France. The people running the hotel are all very pleasant and helpful. The decor was modern without being over the top. The bedroom was comfortable, if a little basic perhaps. We enjoyed a tasty two course dinner on our arrival of mushroom guinea fowl with orange sauce, followed by a pleasant poached pear and ice cream for 18 €
This hotel was booked in advance because of its excellent location on the North-South autoroute. Hotel reception and rooms were excellent and staff were all very helpful and pleasant. Only slight disapointment was the restaurant, this was very stylish and staff again very helpful but menu was poor and expensive, not good value. Most people seemed to be in-transit holidaymakers but hotel seemed to cater to a more sylish group. Breakfast was frantic and crowded but nonetheless very enjoyable.
In the reservation we were offered a room, breakfast and dinner for € 149. In the hotel it appeared that we could only order just one dish out of three from a day menu and a desert. So the website appeared to be very misleading. As a result we paid far more than the value offered. The service and room quality is certainly not better than the standard Ibis Hotels and don't justify the price difference. So for us no more Ibis style hotels!!
we stayed for one night when we were travelling through France. The location is ideal being next to the motorway. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very children friendly. The swimming pool was ok - the kids loved it and it was good to refresh after a days driving. The breakfast was very good and there was a good choice of fresh high quality food. There was a supermarket close by so we could get things we had forgotten to pack. All in All I can recommend it to people on the way to the south, who want a good quality value for money hotel with a friendly atmosphere!
We stayed before in Chagny to visit our favourite restaurant but due to the long weekend nothing was available in our usual chambre d'hôtes. We finally found this lovely & good located hotel. It is a perfect stay, especially as a stopover between 2 destinations. Ideally situated to visit the Bourgogne region and also a good stopover when driving to the South or North of la Douce France or beyond. In our case it was Côte d'Azur to Belgium. Hotel is very clean, calm, modern and comfortable. Highly recommended.
