Lovely escapes around Zürich
From the airport, trains depart every 10 minutes to Zürich Hauptbahnhof – Zürich’s main train station. In the station, look up for the voluptuous Guardian Angel, a sculpture by French-Swiss artist Niki de Saint Phalle. Walk up the Bahnhofstrasse, with luxury stores on either side. Stop and admire Saint Peter’s Church, the oldest parish church in Zürich, boasting the largest church clock in Europe. Until 1911, the church tower was used as on observation tower to detect fire. Then go to the Confiserie Sprüngli and try the house signature macaroons called "Luxemburgerli". On the opposite bank of the Limmat River, the Kunsthaus Zürich houses one of the most important art collections in Switzerland spanning from the Middle Ages to contemporary art, with an emphasis on Swiss art. You’ll wander among art works from Ferdinand Hodler, Segantini, Vallotton, Amiet, Giovanni and Giacometti.
With around 350 train departures every day from Zürich Airport, as well as 700 buses running and 400 trams, the airport is the perfect base point to go and explore Zürich district. For a family trip, plan a visit to Zürich zoo, one of the most remarkable zoos in Europe. For a bit of exercise, try "Zürich-Kloten’s Rope and Adventure Park". Located only 10-minute walk from Kloten’s station, it offers fun and thrills in the forest for everyone above age 4! Then, head to Kilchberg for a tour of the Lindt & Sprüngli Factory. You’ll be able to buy some delicacies in its factory shop!
