Hull

Situated on the northern banks of the Humber estuary, Hull is full of surprises, and was described by the Australian author Peter Porter as “the most poetic city in England”. Just minutes from the city’s train station, our Hull ibis is well located if you’re visiting the city or need a base to get around the East Riding area of Yorkshire. When you’re in the centre, set a couple of hours aside to explore the city’s museums and galleries. After your free buffet breakfast, head over to the Museums Quarter and discover the birthplace of William Wilberforce – with the anti-slave trade campaigner’s home, which is now a museum that tells the story of the transatlantic slave trade and its abolition in Britain in 1807. Once you’re finished at Wilberforce House, board a tram at the Streetlife Museum, or take a tour of the Arctic Corsair – Hull’s last sidewinder trawler and veteran of Icelandic fishing. What’s more, like the Wi-Fi connection in all our cheap hotels, all museums are free in Hull. If you have more than a few hours spare, head out to East Park – the city’s largest green space. If the sun is shining, take a swan pedal boat for a spin on the boating lake. Or, if you don’t mind getting wet, jump aboard the Grade II listed splash boat – just one of three in the country. And after a day full of activities, you’ll be pleased to fall into your room’s Sweet Bed, which has been designed with your ultimate comfort in mind. We look forward to welcoming you to our ibis in Hull.
