The hotel is away from the historic town centre, but obviously very handy for the expo centre. It's not easy to drive there, because of the one way streets and no right turns that jump up at the last minute. Car parking is not cheap - 20 CHF a night - and I wish they would tell you this on the hotel booking page. Once parked, you can use the tram or bus from across the road to access the Swiss travel system. It's a long way from the Wankdorf station to the hotel, and we found it was as quick to take the tram to the Hauptbahnhof as it was to mess around with Wankdorf. You could walk to the edge of the old town in just under half an hour. The hotel is a very fresh Ibis. The breakfast area is not very large, and the menu was quite limited, a poor choice of cereals, no teapots and only UHT milk. The bread could have been fresher and it would have been nice to have had a more cheerful waitress on duty. As is usual with an Ibis, the bar staff double as front desk - and bar service is a little lack lustre. A welcome drink voucher was non negotiable, if you didn't want a beer or soda, there was no chance of an upgrade, even if you wanted to pay the difference. Service at the front desk was friendly and helpful - but the hotel seems to attract coach loads of visitors all of whom seem to take hours to transact even the shortest visit, so check in and out can be lengthy.
