A nice Ibis Hotel in a good position. Pros: Good location, clean and the staff are very polite and helpful. Cons: The rooms can be a little small and ours seemed to have a smaller bed installed as there was a big gap to the bed side tables. It has good underground car park but 16 euros a day is a little expensive. The biggest issue (which is obviously outside of the hotels control) is the building work going on next door. We had workers 10 metres across from our room window and they started at 7am.

My third time staying at this hotel and I see. no need to look elsewhere. Comfortable rooms and excellent mattress, very friendly and welcoming staff and a decent breakfast. Bar staff are also very accommodating and speak, like most Dutch speakers, better English than we do;-) .

Location good if you want be away from crowds in a major historic center, but still convenient enough, about 15 minute walk past some interesting older buildings, places to eat, etc. Less than 5 minute walk to major shopping street. In front of hotel, convenient tram line to Sint Pieter train/ bus station Couple of comfortable, cozy restaurants/pubs nearby. Fresh bread shop almost next door. Reception helpful. Thermostat hard to get to, in a corner, hard to reach /read/adjust,doesn't light up to easily read. so getting a comfortable setting more of a guess. Bedding generally comfortable but felt like it was laid out for two persons, with a long fold, ridge down the middle--not comfortable for back and a feeling that one is forced to one side. I'd probably stay there again if thermostat situation could be fixed.

Since half a year I spend a night per week in this hotel. Before I kept searching for the ideal place, and finding Ibis Opera was like finally finding a "home" for this weekly night. The service is correct and predictable. People are correct, friendly but not "over" social, which I really like. The room is practical and clean. What I get for the price, is absolutely top.

The hotel has a short walk to the old town. We arrived by car and therefore the hotel's garag was more than welcome with 16 euros for overnight. The staff is very friendly and check-in&out went vry smoothly with pre check-in service. The breakfast was also good. Only thing to improve would be coffee - the hotel may be using mlk powder (or something like that) when making latte or cappucino because the taste was a bit watery.

Location of the hotel is great. 10-minute walk to Sint-Baafskathedraal and other tourist sites. Got tram and bus stops right in front of the hotel. Breakfast was 15 euros per person. All standard but not many selections. Staff were helpful and friendly. However, room is small. Especially the shower room. I had to really take care not to hit against the wall while showering. All in all, it's a nice place to stay for a night enjoy city walks in Gent and head to your next destination.

The location is excellent and we booked on that basis, a short walk from everything. Unfortunately, it was also very noisy, not limited to noisy people in the corridors but also traffic noise and building work. The check-in required filling out a lot of small forms, which seems bizarre when they have all our information, and other hotels in the area have not required this. The room was very hot and we had to open the window. The aircon was louder than the traffic(!) and still pretty noisy when switched off... The breakfast was very good and the staff were very helpful - one man saw our lack of skill at making waffles and made another for us - unfortunately it was hard to enjoy it as none of us had had much sleep. Our experience was not great, but I suspect other rooms in the hotel may not have had the same problems.
