With the recent announcement by Microsoft to discontinue the OEM relationship with Field Service Anywhere (FSA), there have been many questions around the future of the product. As the Vice President at I.B.I.S., Inc., I have been involved with the product since its inception to date and am responsible for FSA going forward. Therefore, I can speak directly to some of the questions I have seen floating around on blog sites. I will be writing regular blog entries and newsletters around FSA in the coming weeks, months, and years. Below is a list of some of the questions I have seen and I want to make sure you get the facts.
Q: “Will FSA still be available?”
A: Yes. Even better, the product will continue to be maintained and grow, it is simply being marketed and distributed by the authors of the software, I.B.I.S., Inc..
Q: “I am a Dynamics GP customer and we are planning on moving to Dynamics GP 2010 (v11.0), will FSA be available for that release?”
A: Yes. I.B.I.S., Inc. has been working on FSA for Dynamics GP 2010 and will release a compatible version at the same time as Dynamics GP 2010.
Q: “I am running FSA on Dynamics GP 9.0 and have maintenance through Microsoft. What will happen to my support?”
A: There will be no change in your support for FSA. Microsoft will continue to provide Level 1 support and I.B.I.S., Inc. will continue to provide Level 2 and Level 3 support as long as Dynamics GP v9.0 is supported. This also applies to Dynamics GP v10.0.
Q: “Who is I.B.I.S., Inc.?”
A: I.B.I.S., Inc. is the author of FSA and continues to develop, maintain and support FSA under the Microsoft OEM agreement. In fact, I.B.I.S., Inc. wrote the original Field Service product for the Microsoft Dynamics GP product line.
Q: “Will this change have any impact on the Field Service modules of Dynamics GP?”
A: No. Field Service is owned by Microsoft and is not impacted by the OEM agreement under which FSA was marketed, distributed, and maintained.
