Enterprise Scheduler Server/Client Removal Steps

December 15th, 2008 by Jack Sowers

When working with the Enterprise Scheduler, there may be times that it is necessary to remove the application from a client workstation or even from an inactive Dynamics GP Company database.  In those instances, there are specific tasks which should be followed depending on your need.  The following instructions should be followed when performing the necessary tasks.

Server Removal (ie – SQL Objects Removal)

NOTE:  Performing these steps WILL remove all Enterprise Scheduler data from the company database.  It is recommended that these steps only be performed by an IT administrator with approval by the appropriate management.

Stand-Among Client Removal

Please be aware that the removal of client programs does not remove any SQL Objects (tables, triggers, or stored procedures) in the Dynamics GP SQL database. These components must be manually removed through the SQL Server Enterprise Manager (SQL 2000) or SQL Server Management Studio (SQL 2005).

Note: A SQL script, DeleteAllObjects.sql, is provided to assist in removing all the appropriate SQL Objects defined in Appendix C. The SQL script is located in the Enterprise Scheduler\Sql folder (Default is C:\Program Files\Enterprise Scheduler\Sql). To remove the SQL Objects, you should run the aforementioned script against each Dynamics GP company database on the SQL Server where you wish to remove the Enterprise Scheduler before removing the client application as this script is removed at that point.

Stand-Among Client Removal

The Enterprise Scheduler Stand-Alone Client can be removed from your system through the Add or Remove Programs function of the Control Panel. There are 2 programs which should be removed from your system if you wish to uninstall the Enterprise Schedule. These programs are:

1) Enterprise Scheduler Components for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0;

2) Enterprise Scheduler for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0.

The Dynamics.set file in the Dynamics GP folder must be manually updated. In order to remove the Enterprise Scheduler, you will need to edit the Dynamics.set file via a text editor such as Notepad.exe or Wordpad.exe. There are 3 things which need to be done as follows:

1. Reduce the number of products represented by the number on the first line by 1. For example, if line 1 has 25, you need to change it to 24.

2. Remove the following 2 lines:

11555

Enterprise Scheduler

3. Remove the following 3 lines:

:C:Program Files/Microsoft Dynamics/GP/SCH11555.DIC

:C:Program Files/Microsoft Dynamics/GP/Data/FRM11555.DIC

:C:Program Files/Microsoft Dynamics/GP/Data/RPT11555.DIC

Keep in mind that your full path may be different than the example above. The key is to remove the lines with SCH11555.DIC, FRM11555.DIC, and RPT11555.DIC.

You can now Save and Exit the text editor.

Note: There may also be legacy .log files which remain in the C:\Logs folder after these programs are removed. You must remove these files manually. All log filenames begin with ‘EnterpriseScheduler’.

Stand-Alone Client Removal
